Photographing PICA’s TBA Festival

TBA14_crowd

I know it’s been awhile since we stood together under the stars sipping wine and eating brats during the wonderful TBA Festival but I looked at PICA’s homepage today and saw a photo I took for GBD Architects, and I kinda like it. I’m already looking forward to next year.

We’ve Moved

thebrewhouse-new-office

We are excited to announce our new location.

As the temperature has become fridge outside we have bundled up together and cranked up the heat in our new space. We’ve dusted things off, slayed a one-week deadline, discussed feng-shui and christened our conference room. Now we’re ready for you to come visit us and say hello.

319 SW Washington Street Suite 500, Portland OR 97204

We are very fortunate to have some great windows that provide natural light, when it appears.

The Spalding building has been nicely renovated yet many elements of its original character still remain.

My inner Italian Job loves this feature. The original bank vaults have been wisely transformed into bicycle storage. Try to move one of those doors, we dare you.

When we are feeling lethargic from sitting in front of our computers too long we pull out our Walkmans and lycra suits and power walk the stairs.

Fremont Whole Foods Mural

This spring, Whole Foods asked us to design a community mural for the entrance of their Fremont store.  It’s complete!  The dedication is tomorrow (Saturday, June 9, 2012) at 3535 NE 15th Ave.

It was a unique project for Brewhouse because to make the magic happen we called in the talents of 90 elementary and middle school students from Sabin School.  They were wonderful.  The energy they brought to the project gave it a personality and life beyond what we adults could have produced by ourselves.  We are all proud of the group effort.

Holiday Card Photo shoot

We had a lot of fun working on the first ever Brewhouse Holiday card for our clients. We will be sharing more details in the next few days about how the cards actually turned out but we shot this short video during the photo shoot to share with you in the meantime.

RIP Projector

pink-projector

We watched health-class movies on you in grade school in the 80’s.  We explained how you worked to our younger colleagues.  We painted you pink, perched you prominently in the Brewhouse to show you off, and now we have to say goodbye to you Mr. Projector. You didn’t survive the studio clean-up party.

Tear.

The Gluten-Free Asian Cookbook Launch Party

Laura B. Russell and guests at Saucebox launch party for The Gluten-Free Asian Kitchen

On Wednesday August 24th the Brewhouse helped one of our clients celebrate the launch of her new cookbook, The Gluten-Free Asian Kitchen published by Ten Speed Press. Not only is Laura a force to be reckoned with in the kitchen but she sure knows how to throw a great party.  Saucebox’s Executive Chef Alex Diestra created several dishes from Russell’s beautiful new book and offered them to guests along with several sakes and Saucebox cocktails. It’s also worth mentioning that in honor of Laura’s book, Saucebox only served gluten-free items to their patrons that night. It was a night to be remembered. Best of luck to Laura with her new cookbook venture.

First Thursday with Thérèse Murdza

first-thursday-brewhouse-therese-murdza

We definitely have to do this again.  Having a community of fascinating people in the Brewhouse, chatting about art, making new connections, and supporting Thérèse brought a whole new energy to our space.  Thérèse’s summary, “I was amazed.”

We all were.  Thank you again to everyone who came out, and please feel free to schedule an appointment if you missed the opening and would like to come by.

We are hosting artist Therese Murdza for First Thursday

In our constant push to keep ourselves inspired and awed, we are working with Portland artist Therese Murdza to launch her New Works show.  The Dec. 2nd opening will be hosted in our space, a much more gorgeous space once Therese’s work graces our walls.
